About Pella windows

Pella windows with black frames in bright room

Pella is one of the oldest and most widely known window brands, operating for almost 100 years. Pella started out in 1925, making the Rolscreen retractable screen – an innovative product they still carry today. Over time, Pella began manufacturing patio doors and windows and has continued to do so ever since. They were founded in Pella, Iowa, in a small Dutch community, and their headquarters remain there to this day. Pella is also still owned by the founding Kuyper family. All in all, Pella is a company with a well-established history and a good reputation. When installed properly, their windows are well worth the investment.

Pella Window Lines:

Pella Reserve Traditional

  • Traditional, timeless look
  • Designed intentionally with small details and hardware that are historically rooted, like the spoon-lock
  • Made of aluminum-clad wood
    • What does that mean? The interior part of the window is made of wood, while the exterior part is clad in aluminum. The aluminum layering on the exterior part of the window acts as a shield, allowing wood windows to stand the test of time.
  • Coated with Pella’s EndurClad protective coating  – a special treatment developed by Pella themselves that provides advanced protection against the elements
  • 20 different exterior colors
  • Interior comes in a variety of stains or variations of white paint
  • Can even request a “ready-to-paint” interior, so you can pick your own unique color for the inside
  • Available in almost every window type

  • Who owns Pella windows? Where are Pella windows made?

Pella Windows is owned by the Kuyer family, the same family that originally founded the company in 1925. Pella remains headquartered in Pella, Iowa and their windows are manufactured in locations across the United States.

  • How long do Pella windows last?

Like any brand of windows, longevity depends heavily on:

    • Installation: Were the windows properly installed?
    • Maintenance: Has the window received regular upkeep and maintenance?
    • Weather: What elements is the window exposed to?
    • Frame material: Fiberglass frames tend to have the longest lifespan, while wood frames tend to have the shortest.

When you go with A-Pro Windows and Doors, we guarantee a proper installation. We will also guide you through our hard-earned, experience-backed maintenance tips, taking care of at least half of what makes windows last.

  • Are Pella windows expensive? How much are they?

Pella windows can be expensive, but the cost depends on the material used for your window frames. The most affordable windows offered by Pella are their vinyl windows from the Encompass line. The most expensive are likely the aluminum-clad wood windows from their Reserve line. A quick check on their website, as of this writing, shows their more budget-friendly, vinyl windows can start as low as $283 for a picture window or $422 for a single-hung window.

  • Do Pella windows have a lifetime warranty?

Pella offers a limited lifetime warranty, but understanding the details of its warranty coverage is crucial. Coverage varies depending on the type of window, its features, components, paints, finishes, and other factors. Pella warranties are also non-transferable, meaning that the warranty does not transfer to the next homeowner. At A Pro Windows and Doors, we will work hard to ensure that you fully understand your warranty coverage, regardless of your choice.

  • Are Andersen windows better than Pella?

At A Pro Windows and Doors, we proudly carry both brands because we firmly believe they are both quality, comparable brands. The difference really comes down to the homeowner’s needs, budget, and vision.
