About Andersen windows

Modern home interior with large black-framed Andersen windows.

Operating since 1903, Andersen is the longest-running and largest manufacturer of windows we carry at A Pro Windows and Doors. They have a strong reputation and are praised for their premium products, extensive customization, and proprietary Fibrex material. Andersen is headquartered in Bayport, Minnesota, where it manufactures most of its products. Recently, Andersen opened a manufacturing and distribution center in Goodyear, Arizona. A very welcome development by installers like us here in Phoenix, Arizona.

What to know about Andersen Windows:

  • Andersen is best known for their Fibrex material – a mixture of reclaimed wood fiber and thermoplastic polymer that is twice as strong as transition vinyl (and just as easy to clean!). The Fibrex material is the foundation of Anderson’s 100 Series, but it can also be found throughout their products.
  • One of the advantages of Andersen is the numerous options and customization it offers. Andersen offers five window series and a wider range of window materials than any other brand we carry, including vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum, wood, and composite. This makes Andersen an excellent option for most homeowners.

Andersen Window Materials:

  • Wood
  • Vinyl
  • Composite (Fibrex material)
  • Aluminum
  • Fiberglass

Are Andersen and Renewal by Andersen the same?

They are two sides of the same business. Andersen Windows & Doors offers a wide range of window and door products and doesn’t work directly with homeowners. Instead, they work with local installers, like us, who then collaborate with homeowners to install Andersen products. In contrast, Renewal by Andersen is “full-service”. It works directly with homeowners, meaning they manufacture, sell, and install Andersen products. Renewal by Anderson also only installs replacement windows made of their Fibrex material. When you choose A Pro Window and Doors, we aren’t limited to specific Andersen products, allowing us to find and install the exact product you need.

  • Are Andersen Windows Energy-Efficient?

Not all Andersen windows are certified by ENERGY STAR. It depends on the product you choose and the glass option you select. All Andersen windows come with  Low-E/Low-EF glass, which reflects the sun’s heat back out in the summer and keeps heat indoors during the winter. Andersen’s standard Low-E glass is suitable for use in almost all climates. But we know Arizona isn’t like anywhere else. Our brutal summers demand more from our windows, and Andersen knows it. Anderson also offers Sun Glass, a subtle tint for optimal thermal performance, and SmartSun, which provides the same benefits as their Low-E glass while also filtering out 95% of harmful UV rays. Additionally, Andersen offers triple-pane glass for even greater energy efficiency. At A Pro Windows & Doors, we’ll direct you to the exact product that fits your needs.

  • What is Andersen's Window Warranty?

Andersen’s limited warranty includes 20 years for glass, 10 years for non-glass components, and a 2-year installation warranty when the installation is performed by an Andersen-certified contractor. Andersen warranties are also transferable, meaning they can be passed on to the next homeowner.  Like all warranties from window companies, you must understand the details of your warranty based on the products you ultimately select. Warranty details vary based on the product and only cover specific situations, such as accidental glass breakage, not normal wear and tear. At A Pro Windows and Doors, we will always ensure you walk away crystal clear about your warranty.

  • How long do Andersen windows last?

Andersen windows can last from 20 to 40 years, but like any brand, longevity depends heavily on:

    • Installation: Were the windows properly installed?
    • Maintenance: Has the window received regular upkeep and maintenance?
    • Weather: What elements in the window are exposed to?
    • Frame material: Fiberglass frames tend to have the longest lifespan, while wood frames tend to have the shortest.

When you go with A-Pro Windows and Doors, we guarantee a proper installation. We will guide you through our hard-earned, experience-backed maintenance tips, taking care of at least half of what makes windows last.

  • How much do Andersen windows cost?

The cost per window depends on the product line you choose. Andersen’s more affordable product lines, the 100 series and 200 series, range from $400 to $2,500. Andersen’s higher-end product lines range from $1,100 to $4,000 per window. It’s essential to note that this doesn’t include labor costs. Cost also depends on the size of your window, glass coatings, customization requirements, and other factors. With so many factors at play, it’s best to reach out for guidance. At A Pro Windows and Doors, we take pride in offering honest pricing and a no-pressure sales process. Contact us or schedule a complimentary in-home consultation.

  • Are Andersen windows worth the cost?

A Pro Windows and Doors wouldn’t offer Andersen windows if they weren’t worth the investment. However, whether or not they are worth it depends on your unique needs, budget, and vision. That’s why we highly encourage you to speak with experienced professionals, like us, who won’t pressure you into purchasing any particular product. We’ll help you consider every angle and find options that best fit your circumstances.
